WHAT ARE MY WORKSHOPS ALL ABOUT?
My workshops are very different from conventional photography workshops. They are designed with an approach to photography in mind rather than any numeric technical guide. What I have experienced through my photography journey is that any amount of information can be found online if you are looking for the easy steps to taking pictures. This is not what I am passionate about and so my workshops are totally inspired by what I do love; street photography.
Street photography for me has been a driving force not only in my professional work but also for me as a person and my every day life.
On the course participants will get to see how I use my camera out on the street to practice my trade and learn that by pushing ourselves in a way we may feel initially wary or uncomfortable of can inform how we approach photography as a whole.
WHY STREET PHOTOGRAPHY?
Street photography for me is literally the best way that I know to practice taking photos on a regular basis. It’s a very rare occasion that you will find me without a camera on me of some description. Street photography is such that it is accessible to everyone at a moments notice; it’s just life around us. You don’t have to live in a big city to practice and enjoy it, you can photograph your daily life on your way to the shops, or to pick up the kids. It’s about finding stories within the everyday moments. With the technology available in this age we don’t even need to carry with us a large digital DSLR camera; an IPhone is what a lot of my street photography is captured on.
DO I HAVE ENOUGH EXPERIENCE WITH A CAMERA TO DO A WORKSHOP?
The truth is that you need very little experience with a digital camera to be able to take part in one of my workshops. I cater for people at all stages of their photography journeys; from complete beginners to those who are more experienced and fancy trying out something a little different.
The workshops are held over one or two days depending on your availability and are mostly on a one to one basis, although I can host group workshops if requested.
For somebody who is completely new to photography there is an extra process that I will take you through before you attend. Let me know what stage you are at in your initial enquiry and I can guide you through the next stages.
My intention for my workshops is simply for the participants to gain an experience beyond what they could have expected.
WHAT DO I NEED TO TAKE PART?
All that you need to take part is a digital SLR camera of some description and the willingness to do participate. It really is that simple.
